Madison Regatta World Championship

Sunday July 4

The final heat was set to be some of the best racing of the day. The U-6 Oh Boy! Oberto was in lane 1, the U-100 was given lane 2, the U-8 lane 3, and the U-1 in lane 4. The U-10 and U-16 were both trailers. The front runs were 4 wide going in to the first turn. Coming out the U-6 clipped a bouy and was penalized a lap. The U-1 Miss Bud coasted away from the rest of the field to take what will be their last victory in Madison. Second place went to the U-100 with the U-16 Elam ending in 3rd. The hometown boat, the U-6 oh Boy! Oberto came in fourth. Both the U-8 Llumar and the U-10 Emcor lost escape hatches during the race and did not finish. Both drivers were ok, with bumps and bruises.
