The final
field was set after an awesome day of racing! The U-100, due
to be a trailer, were not allowed in the final due to the loss
of points in Heat 3A, allowing the U-5 a trailer spot. The front
4 boats
were the U-3,
U-16,
U-8
and
the
U-6.
The U-2
would be the first trailer and the U-5 the second. What happened
next was chaos. As the boats milled and jockeyed for positions,
with well over a minute to go, 3 boats "camped out" in their
lanes of choice. The 3 "campers" were the U-16 Elam, U-3 Master
Tire, and the U-8 Llumar. This left the U-6 on the back row with
the 2 trailors. The front 3 boats were not on plane at the one-minute
gun, but still allowed to start.
This made
it an easy run for Elam, starting in front and finishing
in front. The U-3 went on to a second place. The U-8 went
dead around the last lap, allowing the U-6 to take 3rd.

Heat 2A
saw some of the best racing of the weekend! U-6 Oberto and
the U-3 Master Tire were deck to deck from the start. Steve
would edge the Oberto ahead of the U-3 only to have Jimmy
King push the allison-powered craft out in front. Jimmy used
the whole course, making Steve push the Oberto. Coming out
of the first turn on the second lap, the Oberto took a serious
hop around the area of the sunken barge. Fans gasped as it
appeared the Oberto might go over. But Steve kept the boat
on the water as King now pulled away. The U-6 stayed on the
hip of the 3 until the finish.

Heat
2B started off with more intensity as the drivers jockeyed for
lanes. It was a toss up until the entrance of turn 2, with Elam
securing lane 1. But timing was off for the U-2 & the U-8, as
they both hit the start super early. This made it an easy ride
for Myers in the U-16, with the U-5 being the only other boat
on the lead lap. Myers quickly put the distnce between the 16
& 5 to take the win. One
change from yesterday...the U-100 was given back their points
for Heat 1A. We do not know why, but the ABRA changed their
minds after the fact. Let's stick to the rules guys!! Either
he exceeded th N2 or not!
Let's go racing!!

Heat 1A saw
the Master Tire running deck to deck with Elam. After a rough
bounce in turn 4, Jimmy King backed off in the Master Tire, allowing
J. W. Myers to pilot the Elam to the win. Graham Trucking and
Demaree spent the heat fighting it out for 3rd place, with J.
Michael Kelly and the Graham Trucking eventually beating out
the U-100 with Greg Hopp. After the race, the 100's points were
taken away due to an N2 violation, but kept his place. *Points
were given back sometime late Saturday.

Heat 1B started
with Steve David in the Oh Boy! Oberto and Jean Theoret in the
Llumar vying for lane 1. But when it came down to the start,
both boats were early and penalized a lap. That left the door
open for Ken Muscatel and the Superior Racing to take the win.
This just a week after Muscatel's boat landed in the bushes of
the Kentucky shore in Evansville!
