**Penalty for jumping start gun, well after Heat 1B they were also hit with a penalty for hitting a buoy
Brian Perkins was super excited to win his heat! Steve David went down & congratualted him. Steve David and the Oberto showed some real speed in theis heat. not sure what happened to Beacon as they never really were a factor.

Spirit of Detroit scrambled but just couldn't get her out by the 1 minute gun. Jeff Bernard managed to grab lane 1, with teammate Mike Allen in the U7 taking lane 2. Bernard & Allen battled it out for a short while before Bernard took off with the lead. The U10 Ahern Rentals was not the battle ready force I had expected. Perhaps they were just happy to get back to the dock with the bottom of the boat still attached for a change!

What a race! Too bad the officials had to, yet AGAIN, review tape to SEE the right call. The Forumla & Spirit of Detroit were clearly out ahead of everyone at the start, with the Oberto in lane 1 playing it conservative after yesterday. Results are not yet complete with the confusion, so I will change them as soon as I know!

The officials definitely need glasses as they missed a blatant call against Master Tire for cutting off Ahern while jockeying for positions. As it went the U3 secured the inside and pushed to stay ahead of the U10. The engine gave way and the U3 had some odd steering issues coming out of turn 4(seemed to hook & then maybe oversteer?) and died near turn 2. David Bryant took the 10 on for the win, to massive cheers from the crowd.

*Hit a buoy, no penalty
**Called for laned infraction, caused 37 to hit buoy
It was a great race between Theoret & Bryant! So great that Bryant was called for moving in on Theoret, causing him to hit the buoy. Don't know why they DSQd him though.

This was perhaps the cleanest race of the day with no penalties or infractions. Mike Allen drove a wire to wire win.

It was a great race!! It looked like the Oberto had secured lane 1, but in snuck Beacon in a great move and got the inside lane! The 37, 6, & 7 duked it out for the first few laps with the 37 pulling ahead. The U6 Oberto tried to give chase, flying the boat high on the back stretch and turn 3, but could not catch Beacon.
