Heat 1A saw Greg Hopp drive the U100 to victory! U13 driven by Cal Phipps took 2nd, U21 with Brian Perkins took 3rd, and U25 with Dr. Ken Muscatel
came in 4th. U21 lost their cowling during the heat.
Heat 1B was stopped when the U37 Miss Peters & May, driven by JW Myers, lost the skid fin coming around Roostertail turn. The boat was headed for the pits, but somehow it managed to
to turn more right & hit the wall in front of Sinbad's (or Roostertail?). JW pulled himself out of the wrecked hull and waited for rescue personnel. He was taken to
an area hospital to be checked out. He was aware of what had happened and was complaining of leg pain. I know everyone joins me in wishing
JW well!! Since the first place boat, the U96, had crossed the finish line the race was called complete. Finish was U96 1st, U7 2nd, U17 3rd.
Heat 1C went off after serveral delays. Steve David drove the U1 to victory, with Jeff Bernard in the U5 coming in second and Mike Webster driving
the U22 to a third place finish.
Heat draws for the second flight are 2A:96, 25, 7, 5, 1 & 2B is 22, 17, 13, 100, 21.

It is finally time to go racing! Teams across the country are heading to Madison, Indiana for the season opening Madion Regatta!
Nate Brown and the Our Gang Racing boat left out of Washington yesterday. Check out their new site at Our Gang Racing.
U13 Spirit of Detroit WILL be back this season with a new driver, Cal Phipps! They have been working feverishly on the boat and should be done just in time for Madison. You can also follow these guys on Facebook at Detroit Unlimited Racing.
Perhaps some of the BIGGEST news this season is the bright orange U16 Miss Elam boat is running under new colors with a new sponsor! This year the U16 will be the U96 Spirit of Qatar with the colors red, dark blue & white. It appears that the Sheikh Hassan & the QMSF were very impressed with the team in Doha last year! Join me in welcoming them to the sport!
U37 Miss Peters & May, sponsored by the shipping company that arranged for the passage of the boats to Doha last year, will return with driver JW Myers at the helm. Congrats on your ride JW!
Just when it look liked the Detroit Gold Cup might not happen, Jarvis Property Restoration stepped up as the title sponsor! These guys have sponsored Dr. Ken Muscatel's boat in the past. Thanks for saving the Gold Cup! And don't forget to buy your Gold Cup tickets here!
Speaking of saving the day, let's not forget Duke's Chowder House stepping in to save the day for Seattle & Seafair! Drop them a line or stop by their restaurants to say THANKS for saving the day.
The Madison Regatta also has Lucas Oil to thank for stepping up as the title sponsor of the Regatta! Buy your tickets online now!

For ALL of the latest happenings and discussions of the "silly season", make sure to checkout the Forum!
We just found out today that our friend, Elam Vic (Vic Nelawake) passed away suddenly on Monday of an apparent heart attack. Vic was a good friend of Hydropage. As many of you know he initiated the button promotion in 2008 to bring more fans to the Forum. He was a constant figure in the Elam camp. It will be hard walking into the pits in the 2010 season, expecting to see his smiling face, decked out in his blue and orange. Please join me tonight in the weekly Forum Chat (use the link, then click CHAT under th logo), dedicated to Elam Vic, as we discuss our memories of Vic as well as the typical "silly season" stories. I think Vic would have wanted that. Tonight 9:30 Eastern, 6:30 Pacific.
